What if one snow day could change everything?

Rooted in Montana’s Yellowstone Country and inspired by a decade of family explorations, this tale invites parents and children alike to share in the beauty of the wilderness, the joy of discovery, and the cozy warmth of coming home.

Left alone sans phone, Wi-Fi, or television, Torrey—the young protagonist in Bryan Schaeffer’s Legend of the Snow Day (SINTR, $19.95)
—discovers a leather-bound book and matching amulet which transport her to a fantastical, yet familiar world where Norse mythological figures like Odin, Ullr, Thor, and Jörmungandr (the snake who encircles the earth) inhabit the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Upon learning of the latter’s plan to destroy the world, Torrey sets out on an epic winter ski through the Park to save herself—and possibly the world at large—from destruction. With captivating, hand-drawn illustrations that are meant to be shared, The Snow Day delivers a refreshingly whimsical coming-of-age tale that reminds us of the importance of logging off and tuning in to the wonders of the natural world.

Sound interesting? Then be sure not to miss Schaeffer’s picture-book accompaniment, The Snow Day: A Yellowstone Adventure (SINTR®, $39.95), and keep your eyes peeled for the animated film yet to come. —Carson Sprague
